Goa
is the land of beautiful beaches. It has beautiful beaches all over its
territory, including various exotic destinations, wild flowers, placid
waters and an extremely relaxing atmosphere. These are just a few things,
which can be expected from the beaches of Goa.
A Promised Land
Goa is just like an emerald on India's western shore. A holiday paradise,
it has sprawling hills, meandering rivers, lush green fields and miles of
beach shore. With its sunlit beaches, green hills, silvery waterways,
waterfalls, and lakes, Goa has always been a unique spot with vast tourist
potentialities, which are now being re-discovered continuously. The gift of
nature has endowed Goa with enchanting loveliness and idyllic serenity.
It's culture
It's culture is a unique blend of the Indian and Portuguese, which is
reflected in day to day life of a Goan, through their high spirit, good
fellowship and song. Besides a long and checkered history, Goa reflects in
its monuments, churches, temples, forts, its colorful festivals throughout
the year, music, cuisine, and even a distinct style of living which is a
harmonious blending of the East and West.

Beaches
Beaches are the most attractive and
frequented spots in Goa. In fact, Goa is almost synonymous with beaches.
Two continuous stretches of beaches - northern and southern stretches -
mark the Goan coastline.
Forts
And Monuments
The Goan forts were of immense
military, political and economic importance in a land crisscrossed
by rivers and canals and bordered by sea on the west. Many forts
built in the 16th century are situated at vantage points on the
banks or faces of the rivers and the sea. Some are awesome in sheer
size like the ruins of the St. Augustine's Tower, while others are
marvelous pieces of architecture, e.g. the gate of the Adil Shah's
Palace at Old Goa. |
Wild
Life & Bird Sanctuaries
Goa is enriched with a
fascinating diversity of wild life including birds and mammals. It
is estimated that this region harbors some 48 genera of mammals, 276
genera of birds and 60 genera of reptiles. The Government has set up
3 wild life sanctuaries and 1 bird sanctuary, which revel in their
scenic beauty, large tracts of wilderness and varieties of fauna. |
Museums
& Art Galleries
The collections at various museums and art galleries
offer a glimpse of a glorious past be it religious, historical, social
and economic aspect of Goa.
